The rest of what the valleys give up.
Spinel, morganite, moonstone, zircon
Beside the four families we specialise in, the same parcels bring spinel down from the Hunza valley, morganite out of Shigar in Skardu, moonstone from the Baltistan side, and zircon from around Astore. All four are worked in Pakistan and across the border in Afghanistan, and none of them are lesser stones — Hunza spinel in particular was sold as ruby for centuries before anyone could tell the two apart. They sit here because they arrive in smaller, less predictable quantities than the four families we can promise you every season.
Living with it. Varies by species; each stone is sold with its own care note. As a rule, treat anything under 7 Mohs as you would jade.
