Sapphire
Batakundi Sapphire
Emerald cut · Kaghan
$1,450
Sapphire is corundum, second only to diamond for hardness, which is why it wears so well in a ring worn every day. Ours comes down from the Kashmir side and from Batakundi in the Kaghan valley. We judge it first on how evenly the colour reads across the face: zoning, where the blue gathers in bands, is what separates a fine sapphire from one that is merely blue.
